Why Join?

  • Receive free copies of the 8 competition books and a team shirt (all yours to keep!)
  • A great resume and/or college application booster. No extracurriculars or sports? This has all you need- Teamwork! Friendly Competition! Commitment! Good sportsmanship!
  • Need a reference? Committed team members may earn a reference from our Coaches.
  • All participants get free books and goodies at the event!
  • Winners get cash prizes and a banner to hang in the Library for the next year.
  • Read titles/ authors that you might not check out otherwise!

Joining is easy. Come to our interest meeting to get all the details you need! Read the 8 books over the next 4 months, attending monthly practices (5-6 PM Wednesdays) to learn the rules, and get comfortable with the buzzer system. Then this summer, attend biweekly practices (4:30-6PM Mondays & Wednesdays) as we lock in for the competition. The Battle will be at SUNY Orange, on Sunday, Aug. 23rd @ 12 PM.

Atención lectores de 6.º a 11.º grado! Únanse a nuestro equipo de la Batalla de los Libros para competir contra equipos de una docena de otras bibliotecas públicas en un concurso de preguntas y respuestas sobre libros. ¿Preguntas? Escriban a fmlteen@rcls.org

¿Por qué participar?

  • Reciban copias gratuitas de los 8 libros del concurso y una camiseta del equipo (¡todo tuyo para que te lo quedes!).
  • Un excelente complemento para su currículum y/o una solicitud universitaria. ¿No tienen actividades extracurriculares ni deportes? ¡Este programa lo tiene todo! Trabajo en equipo, sana competencia, compromiso y espíritu deportivo.
  • ¿Necesitan una carta de recomendación? Participantes comprometidos del equipo pueden obtener una recomendación de nuestros entrenadores.
  • ¡Todos los participantes reciben libros y obsequios gratis en el evento!

Unirse es fácil. ¡Vengan a nuestra reunión informativa para obtener todos los detalles! Lee los 8 libros durante los próximos 4 meses y atienda a los entrenamientos mensuales (miércoles de 5 a 6 p. m.) para aprender las reglas y familiarizarte con el timbre. Luego, este verano, atienda a los entrenamientos quincenales (lunes y miércoles de 4:30 a 6 p. m.) mientras nos preparamos para la competencia. La Batalla sera en SUNY Orange, el domingo 23 de agosto a las 12 p. m.

About the branch

The Finkelstein Memorial Library is a free public library founded in 1917, now serving 130,000 people in the East Ramapo Central School District of Rockland County, New York.

Our collection has something for everyone: books for children and adults, DVDs, audio books, music CDs and other materials. We offer a wide variety of programs and classes for the community. Computers with internet access, word processing, spreadsheets, and other applications are available throughout the library. Wireless internet access if free and also available.

Finkelstein Memorial Library has continued commitment to lifelong learning and educational support, Now, nearly a century later, Finkelstein Memorial library – its trustees, its staff, its friends and supporters – understand that today’s information needs cannot merely be satisfied through a collection of books alone. All manner of information formats are provided.
