Celebrate Juneteenth with us for the Africatown and the Power of Storytelling program! Dr. Plant will discuss her research into Zora Neale Hurston's efforts to preserve the narratives of the past, particularly through documenting Cudjo Lewis’ story in Barracoon: The Story of the Last "Black Cargo". Dr. Plant will also explore Africatown, the community founded by Cudjo Lewis and others who survived the transatlantic slave trade and built lives of resilience and self determination. Their legacy continues to inspire and inform the work of generations today.
